Extreme Measures at Extreme Time-Part 2

When other countries are moving fast to tackle inflation, Bolehland government still keep on politicking and worst still impose measures such as road blocks which is ridiculous.

Can't they imagine there was unnecessary burning of petrol and Klang Valley's productivities were halted for at least few hours?

Also, Bolehland appears at international news headline for wrong reason.

Read Below......It seems that Bolehland is an uncivilised country........

Anwar detained overnight(07-17 00:08)-AGENCE FRANCE

Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was arrested over sodomy allegations, will spend the night in detention, his lawyer said."They are keeping him tonight. Their excuse is they need to take further statements,'' said lawyer Sankara Nair."They are not giving him bail, I have no idea how much longer he will be detained,'' he told reporters, adding that he was unsure if he would remain at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters where Anwar was undergoing questioning.Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar also said earlier that the investigation process would be lengthy."I doubt Anwar will be released tonight as this is a very serious allegation and there are a lot of things to be investigated and the police must carry this out fully,'' Syed Hamid said.

Malaysian riot police confront Anwar supporters(07-16 19:49)BLOOMBERG

Malaysian riot police confronted about 300 demonstrators in Kuala Lumpur demanding the release of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was arrested following accusations he had sex with a male aide.Around 30 officers armed with batons and tear gas attempted to disperse the crowd in the center of the capital near the police station where Anwar, 60, was held. The former deputy prime minister has denied the accusations and says the current case is fabricated to destroy his plan to topple Premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in two months. The crowd ignored a call for calm from Anwar, repeating scenes of a decade ago when his detention on charges of having sex with a driver led to riots.

Serious concerns' over Anwar's arrest: US -AFP

WASHINGTON - THE United States said on Wednesday that the arrest of Malaysian -- AFP opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim over sodomy allegations sodomy has raised 'serious concerns.'
'We believe the detention today of prominent Malaysian opposition figure Anwar Ibrahim raises serious questions and concerns,' State Department spokesman Mr Sean McCormack said in a statement.
'We urge Malaysian authorities to resolve this matter in a manner that builds confidence in the impartial rule of law in Malaysia,' he said.
Mr Anwar underwent a long interrogation at the Malaysian police headquarters on Wednesday and was then taken to hospital for a medical examination and would be held overnight at an undisclosed location, his lawyers said.
Mr Anwar's wife Ms Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said she feared for his safety, after the events of a decade ago when he was sacked as deputy premier, beaten up by the police chief, and jailed for six years on sodomy and corruption charges.
Mr Anwar has dismissed the latest accusations as a conspiracy to prevent him from rising into power.
The charges threaten to derail his political comeback and his plans to oust the government with the help of defecting lawmakers after landmark March elections that handed the opposition unprecedented gains.
Two US rights groups also expressed concerns about the arrest and hoped the investigation into the sodomy claims was not used as a political tool to silence him.
The arrest 'is of great concern to us and the international community,' said Mr Lorne Craner, president of the International Republican Institute, and Mr Ken Wollack, president the National Democratic Institute.
They noted that the similar charge filed against him a decade ago was ultimately overturned by Malaysia's Supreme Court.
Mr Craner and Mr Wollack also questioned the timing of the current allegations amid Anwar's re-emergence on the national political scene since a ban on his involvement in politics expired in April 2008.
'We hope that the investigation into the allegation is not used as a political tool to silence an outspoken government critic,' they said.
Sodomy, even between consenting adults, is illegal in predominantly Muslim Malaysia and punishable by 20 years imprisonment.
